Went to the doctors the other day just for a routine annual physical and of course they have to draw blood and run the usual tests and send it out to the lab. The bloodwork came back with everything pretty much normal except for Vitamin D. The doctor wants me to take 1000 mg a day to replenish this deficiency.

I was with a group of ladies the other day and you know how ladies are, they share so easily with one another about physical mishaps and I just happen to mention that my Vitamin D level came back low. To my amazement five out  of six ladies that were there all said they too had a low vitamin d count and are currently taking supplements.

To get your Vitamin D level back to the level that it needs to be, you absolutely need to eat correctly and take additional supplements. If you don't eat properly the right kinds of food, sleep the amount of hours that you require, drink lots of water to stay hydrated and if you don't keep stress to a minimum, you could be a good candidate for lack of that vitamin.

This got me to thinking about spiritual anemia.....many of us don't read our bible or study God's word on a regular basis. We do a quick reading and prayer in the morning and get caught up in our busy hectic schedule. Just as our bodies need to be fed and nurtured so doesn't our spiritual lives need to be nurtured and cared for. We walk around tired and spiritually weak.    What percentage (milligrams)  of prayer and studying of God's word are you putting into your life?

To strengthen our spiritual anemia from taking hold,  things like journaling, reading, studying God's word...praying and talking things out with the Lord is so vital to be spiritually strengthened.

Just as we need to care for our physical bodies, so we must also take care of our spiritual needs.  How is your spiritual Vitamin D level?    You have the choice to strengthen it!    I am challenged everyday with the verse in  James 4:8 that says, "Draw nigh to God and He will draw nigh to you."
